Australia v India 4th Test,Preview & Plan

Hello and welcome back.Match scheduled to begin at 00:30 GMT at Adelaide, Jan 24, 2008
Ground history:No doubt in favour of Australia.
Key points are:
1.Weather: Seems O.K but some chances of rain on last 2 days.
2.Teams: Hayden is back for Australia and Jaffer may not play and Harbhajan most likely to replace him.
Plan:
>Current odds are Aus 2.0 as favourites,Draw 2.5 and India 9.
It looks like that because of flat pitch prediction,India batting strength and Australia defeat in last test Draw is so short.
Although last 10 Test matches shows 90% result (8 home and 1 away) at this venue and only 10% or 1 Draw.
Anyway plan for 1st day is:

(A)If India bat first:
1.Back Aus at 2.0 in start (small) and back some more if odds drifts to 2.6+ and wait.
2.Lay Australia 1.4x or below if comes before lunch.
3.Back Draw 5.5+ if comes before lunch and 6+ anytime on day 1 (not after batting collapse like if you see collapse in start then wait till tea).
4.Lay Draw 1.7x or below before lunch.
5.India odds:better leave it.
(B)If Australia bat first:
1.Back Aus 3.0+ before lunch.
2.Lay Australia 1.7x or below.
3.Back Draw 4+ if comes before lunch and 5+ anytime on day 1.
4.Lay Draw 1.8x or below before lunch and 1.5x anytime.
5.India odds: Back India 18+ if comes in start and lay 3.5 or below anytime.

Australi v India-Test Series Review,South Africa v West Indies ODI Series Preview & Live Cricket Trading Room Launching

Hello and welcome back,
Australia v India:

A great contest ended today.India won the third Test match by 72 runs against Australia.Frankly i think winner is game of cricket :-) in last because too many bad things happened between Sydney Test and this match. This match also produced some good trading opportunities mainly because of market love for Australia. But as someone rightly quoted in betfair cricket forum on a query that what odds would be offered if India or England chasing 413 runs in 4th innings, his answer was 15+ because they have never won 16 Tests in a row!.
Australia was 1.41 prematch for this match and i've noticed that those who love straight bet takes these odds.Whether it is profitable or not but in more than 80% matches in last 10 matches (from memory) short odds favourite teams odds are lengthen inplay.I'm working on samples and these are few examples from recent matches:
1.South Africa v New Zealand> 2 Test matches in which SA odds was 1.6x prematch and traded at 1.9+ in both matches.
2.Sri Lanka v England> 3 Test match in which Lanka traded higher than prematch during inplay (don't know exact odds range).
3.South Africa v West Indies> 3 Test match and in 2 matches SA traded at much higher (inplay) than prematch.
4.Australia v India> 3 Test match so far and in all three Australia traded much higher inplay than prematch.
I'm collecting more data for both Test match & limited overs game and after analysis i will publish results here.If you have any data please let me know.
.............
South Africa v West Indies, ODI series preview:
Yesterday we saw 2nd Twenty20 match in which there was massive odds movement in 2nd innings.Lets hope it will continue in ODI's also.
West Indies batting is weak without Gayle and very unpredictable (with Gayle also) although i think there bowling attack is much better in recent times.
So plan for this series is that if West Indies is batting in any inning then only think of backing SA at good odds like 1.6+ because West Indies may collapse anytime. And if SA is batting then think laying SA in short odds if comes early. All the best for the series.

Aus v India,Day 3 Plan

Hello,
Day 2 was excellent for us.I mentioned yesterday that if Australia odds reach 1.5x today morning lay that as free lay.
As it was anticipated market love with Australia continue today also.India bowled out 330 today morning and Australia odds was 1.41!
We know Australia is a very strong team and can win from nowhere.
Anyway fingers crossed may market love them always :-).
...........
Plan for day 3:
Frankly i've noticed may time that after 2 good days if i involve on 3rd day then generally my green reduced so i'm very cautious for tomorrow.
Plan is:
1.Wait for India odds in 1.4x range specially after 3 wickets to lay as free lay with condition at that time mainly runs on board.
2.Wait for Australia 4.5+ in India innings anytime tomorrow specially after 3 wickets.
3.If you see couple of early wickets tomorrow morning then wait and consider small lay Australia in 1.7x if comes.
Frankly movement in Australia odds is going to be more so try to find value in Australia odds 4.5+ tomorrow whenever comes.
Beware Australia is a dangerous team so don't leave big liability on them.
Please visit 'Live cricket trading room' for Inplay post.
All the best.

Aus v India update

Hello,
Great 1st day for this test match for us in 'Live trading room' at http://tradeonsports.forumotion.com and i hope you all enjoyed there.Though i posted here also the plan for 1st day in advance.

Frankly confidence was low after West Indies v South Africa,3rd Test which gone one way from start so i was not keen to lay Australia in 1.4x if India bat first otherwise Australia at 1.40 was a good lay prematch for a Test match.
My fear was that if India will lose early wickets (which was anticipited due to fast track) then Australia may win this match like South Africa one way.
So i decided to back Australia at good odds first rather than lay which generally i don't prefer.

...............
Plan for day 2:
Current odds Australia is 1.69
Wait for Australia 1.5x if comes early tomorrow to lay as free lay.
I will post other plans inplay whenever it comes in live cricket trading room.
All the best.
............
P.S: I will post here results after play on regular basis probably from tomorrow.
A new website is set to launch shortly for this.

India v Australia,3rd Test-Preview & Plan(s)

Hello and welcome back.
South Africa v West Indies 3rd Test ended on day three and SA won it comprehensively.
Poor show by West Indies in the whole match apart from a good partnership for 4th wicket in 2nd innings.Chanderpaul not batted in 2nd innings worsen things more for West Indies otherwise we might had some good Draw odds trading on day 3rd.
Anyway 2 out of 3 Tests in the series gone in our way and 1 loss is a part of trading :-).
................
Australia v India,3rd Test Plan:
Match is going to be played at W.A.C.A. Ground, Perth which is the quickest pitch in Australia.
Overall records suggests that beat Australia at Perth is a very difficult task.
Weather so far looks to be fine.
Current odds are:
Australia 1.40 as strong favourites,Draw 5.0 second favourite and India 10.0 as outsiders.
My plan:
Frankly from free lay and trading point of view i always like to see strong favourite team bat first in any format of the game.
So here again i will not hesitate to lay Australia in 1.4x if they bat first with a back plan of 1.6x and 1.8x.
If India bat first then i would like to wait for 10-15 overs because i don't like to back any selection in Test match 1.4x on day 1 or lay strong bowling team which is also strong favourites prematch on a fast track.
Another thing is there will be very slow odds movement in Australia odds even if India won't lose any wicket in 1st ten overs.
If India bat well till lunch like 80/1 then consider back Australia 1.7x and then wait and if they continue to bat well then consider back some more at 2.4+ if comes on day one.
All the best.
P.S:
I will post plan for Draw and India odds trading on 15th.

Thursday, January 10, 2008

South Africa v West Indies,3rd Test {Inplay}

2nd Update:
WI 104/7 in 27 overs.
Odds SA 1.09
Another West Indies batting collapse.
Pitch looking difficult to bat on.
Now best option is to wait for SA innings.
This game is not over but i don't want to increase my liability and want to wait and watch.

...............
1st Update:
Early news is South Africa won the toss and elected to field first.
Pitch report:Commentators view is that it is good for batting.
Weather:chances of rain more on Sunday and Monday. So is this going to be another weather trading?
Teams:Gayle is not playing.
Anyway plan is same which i posted earlier before start of the match.
Good luck.

.............
Hello and welcome once again.
Plenty of flipflops in last test but due to work commitments traded very little on that.
Anyway cricket played almost daily and hopefuly we may find some good opportunities in every match :-).
My target is:
If i trade on 10 matches.
>200 or more Profit in 5
>100 or less loss in 5
Final: 500 or more profit, fingers crossed.
..............
Test cricket is very good for free lays specially when one team is strong favourite. But it needs patience.Frankly some things are easy to say than do like if you layed any selection in 1.30 as free lay and after 1 hour or 15 overs odds shorten to 1.18 then it is difficult to stick with that although we know it is another free lay and even better than previous.
I've noticed this many times that if free lay comes early in match eg. first 2 days of test or in 1st innings of ODI it is generally safe than on the last day of the test or last overs in limited overs game.Though ROI is more in last.
I will discuss more on it later in a new post which is almost completed.Title of that post is 'short odds and remaining time/overs relation'.
...............

Now plan for 3rd Test for day 1 is:
I will update as soon as any other free lay or good trading seen.
1st Day Plan:
Current odds are SA 1.46,Draw 4.3 and WI 10.5
(A).If SA bat first:
1.Lay SA 1.3x or below as free lay if comes before lunch and 1.34 or below anytime on day 1.
2.Back SA 1.8+ if comes before tea and back 2.4+ whenever comes.
3.Back Draw 5+ if comes before lunch.
4.Lay Draw 1.5x or below anytime on day 1 as free lay.
5.Back WI 15+ if comes after good start by SA in 1st 15 overs as a good trading opportunity or after 3 wickets anytime on day 1.
6.Lay WI 3.5 or below if comes before lunch.

(B).If WI bat first:
1.Back SA 1.7+ before lunch.
2.Lay SA 1.28 or below anytime.
3.Lay Draw 2.2 or below.
4.Back Draw 6+ anytime (not after WI collapse).
5.Lay WI 5.5 or below if comes.
6.Back WI 20+ if comes before tea.
Frankly these plans are according to market mood and behaviour although we don't know exactly about how pitch will behave and weather forecast now.So please asses situation at that time when these odds comes, like if you see heavy rain then don't lay draw in 2.2x.
All the best.
P.S:
Please check updates on day 2 and onwards of this match and also for Australia/India 3rd Test which will start from January,16th at http://tradeonsports.forumotion.com (Live cricket trading room).
Lastly many thanks for well wishes and comments on 'Live cricket trading room'.

Test Matches Update

Hello and welcome to our 1st post of this year.
Australia v India test match timings are not suitable for me so not doing much trading in this match.
But if i trade on 2nd day from start then my plan is:
1.Lay Aus 1.2x or below when India comes to bat upto 3 wickets.
2.Back Aus 1.8+ or lay Draw 2.2x if comes before tea.
Plan is simple go with bowling team (Australia>when India comes to bat) who is strong favourites at 1.8+ if comes and then wait.Because even if odds drifts upto 2.3x only one wicket is required to bring back odds in 1.8x zone.
.................
South Africa v West Indies:
West Indies 240/8 at stumps on day 1.
Odds are SA 1.36 as favourites. Is SA at 1.37 a free lay and what is ROI?
Before doing anything just analyse conditions in which SA odds may drift:
1.Bad weather.
2.Big partnership for 9th and 10th wicket.
3.Early wickets in SA innings.
4.Very slow run rate in SA innings.
I think 1,3 and 4 is possible and 2 is unlikely.
So imo small lay now at 1.37 and consider lay around 1 30 when SA comes to bat as free lay.
I will try for Inplay post in South Africa match.

All the best.
